Working in partnership with an experienced team on the ground, alongside local government and community leaders, HSoA delivers projects in challenging environments, transforming the lives of some of the poorest people in Africa.
We work in four areas: education, health, clean water and economic development, meeting basic needs and allowing people to build fulfilling lives.
In 2018 the Rees Immunisation Centre was opened. The Centre provides immunisation, malaria treatment and medical care to thousands of patients. By the end of 2018 57,000 patients had visited the Centre. This is a successful partnership with the Ugandan Department of Health who provide clinical staff.
Water harvesting is high on the agenda. A rainwater harvesting system has been installed along with an upgrade to the kitchen at the Primary School which provides meals and water for pupils in a healthier, more eco-friendly way.
All 40 of our P7 students passed their primary Leaving Exams at the end of 2018 making the Primary School the top in the sub county. The newly formed Scouts Troop was set up with the help of a local Harpenden Scouts Troop that continues to support the Troops with the provision of equipment.
In 2018 one of our economic development projects provided skills training to teenagers and young adults in tailoring and carpentry so that they could develop tangible skills to help them find work in these areas and empower communities to provide for their families.
