Herts Domestic Abuse Helpline
Objectives of the Organisation
Hertfordshire Domestic Abuse Helpline is a registered charity and is a free, confidential and anonymous telephone service to assist anyone affected by domestic abuse. We aim to offer callers affected by Domestic Violence and Abuse a supportive response and access to a range of support agencies, relevant to each individual’s particular situation.
Volunteers undertake two days' training and we ask them to offer two to three hours a week on the Helpline.
Supervision is offered by the Helpline manager and regular support meetings focus on ongoing training and agency services. They also offer an opportunity to talk through issues that arise. The line can be picked up on any mobile or land line, so volunteers can take calls at home, as most do, or from work or other suitable location (subject to confidentiality issues).
We are recruiting volunteer call takers, male as well as female, who will need to be over 18 years of age and able to make a regular and ongoing commitment. We would also be interested in hearing from anyone willing to help on an occasional basis with fundraising events, information stalls etc.
